This is what happens when people try to fix problems with regulations.
The problem was complaints of some home owner allowing people to live in there garage.
HOA solution require all garage doors be left open 8am-4pm.....if some one was living which is mostly sleeping in their garage shouldn’t you make them leave them open from 8pm - 4am?
Not that this is a good solution but it even seems to fail at implementation.
Fix problems don’t regulate them....and is this even a problem ive lived in a pretty nice garage before.

I mean, regulations can work, it’s just having a time and place for them, as well as making sure that they’re not created by an absolute lunatic.

Lol, this’ll last until the first robbery or home invasion.

Yes, because one stupid-ass HOA being stupid obviously means no regulation is ever a good regulation. Libertarianism for everyone! You get two bitcoins and a raft in international waters! You get two bitcoins and a raft in international waters! Everyone gets two bitcoins and a raft in international waters!

Hell, I’d fake a robbery just to expedite the end of the dumb
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:12 |

It’d preferably happen to the dingus who thought this was a good idea.

Can’t wait for the legal action.
The stable genius behind this should be pilloried and never allowed to live it down, via legal means and otherwise. Make it a scarlet letter for stupidity.

This is what happens when people try to fix problems with regulations.
No it isn’t. This is what happens when fucking morons overreact and don’t think.
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:16 |

Umm..that would not work here. Most of my neighbors use their garages for storing junk. They would be complaining about the unsightly mounds of cardboard boxes, and holiday decorations.
They could fine me all they want, the whole point of having a garage is to have a secure place to park your car, not to mention the thousands of dollars in tools.
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:23 |

Do they vote on these things, or is it up to the HOA president?

ImmortalMinority isn’t busy or anything, he could handle this!
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:23 |

No, this is what happens when incredibly dumb people try to fix things with regulations. There are any number of other possible rules that would have solved this without being mindblowingly idiotic.
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:24 |

Well yeah, but these morons pass regulations.
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:26 |

I could use two bitcoins right about now.

They can be yours for the low low price of moving to a raft in international waters with no military to protect you from pirates who want to steal your two bitcoins.
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:33 |
|
Do it to whoever came up with that stupid rule. Personally, I wouldn’t steal anything but maybe throw all their tools, shoes, and garden/yard equipment all over the floor.
...Or back their vehicles out into the street and call the tow truck for illegally-parked vehicles!
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:33 |

It depends on the association and their rules. Usually there are periodic meetings depending on the size of the HOA, so you’d have to actually show up. Some are far less democratic.
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:36 |

You said bitcoins AND a raft! No backsies!
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:38 |

Yes, you get the raft and the bitcoins. The pirates are your problem to deal with since they’re also in international waters free from regulations.

Stupid HOA board. Gives all HOA’s a bad name.
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:46 |

I meant more along the lines of rent a storage unit across town, stick a few of my expensive garage items in it, claim I’d been robbed and scream bloody murder until the rule is done away with, then go get my stuff once the heat dies down. But I like your idea better
![]() 01/08/2018 at 21:49 |

Careful. That slope looks a bit slippery.

I put on my Jolly Roger eyepatch and roll against my Charisma. I offer up my services as a marine engine mechanic, but seeing as they do not abide regulations, they will likely take my claim toward credentials at face value and hire based on experience.
After a month of poorly-running boats, they will likely see through my ruse, so I will offer them one of my bitcoins for safe passage to Thailand and my silence. Upon reaching Thailand I will cash in my remaining bitcoin for bhat, find a luxury condo for 100 bhat/mo, and start a hipster expat lifestyle blog. The rest will be invested in rental real estate targeted at expats and reformed pirates.

Only a middle to upper class American who has never been to a third world country would make such an ignorant statememt.

Slippery slope much?
![]() 01/08/2018 at 22:09 |

...I like your idea more because there’s a much lower chance of going to jail. I just think that the only way to really have that BS requirement removed is to have it happen to the idiot who came up with it.
![]() 01/08/2018 at 22:21 |

It’d make for some good stories. I suspect the minds who came up with this meet all the stereotypes.

Lol.
I’d out of curiosity (but also a good degree of knowing the answer) ask your insurance provider if you were covered for knowingly leaving your garage door open. Get them to put it in writing, then attach a copy to the outside of your garage door. If you get a fine, say ‘right, my insurance won’t cover any loss or damage to my property therefore the HOA is liable for any loss or damage incurred’, see how that goes down with the ruddy idiots.

“Stupid HOA” are there any that aren’t?
![]() 01/08/2018 at 23:18 |

I agree with you. Most of my neighbors use their garages as some kind of junk room (and park outside), too. We are the only ones on our block that can park cars in every bay and most can’t get a single car in there for the junk they pile in there. This includes people with cars that they obviously care about (modified BRZ, new Mustang, Model S, etc).

I’ve had a good one. Once. The rest have sucked.

That website is why adblocker was invented. 27 ads on one page, and a few of them are animated. I had to wait a 5-10 seconds for all of them to load before the page sat still for me to read it.
I know sites need to make a buck, but damn. It’s like Times Square sometimes.
And I would do everything I could to elect a new HOA board after reversing the rule.
However, are those condos? Apartments? A lot of those buildings had at least four gas meters on them. Are the garages separate units, or are they part of the home?
![]() 01/09/2018 at 10:21 |

When did we even not elect fucking morons?
![]() 01/09/2018 at 10:25 |

I guess the real problem is only lunatics seem to get elected.

Regulations are just band-aids. for example, We can regulate coal power, or we can invest in tech to make coal not economically viable. The investment in tech pays off faster than regulation.
![]() 01/09/2018 at 10:30 |
|
Exactly, the problem is mindblowing idiotic people seem to be writing most the regulations.
![]() 01/09/2018 at 11:20 |
|
What are you talking about? Coal power is regulated because it produces tons of toxins and was responsible for the deaths of scores of people throughout the 20th century. Power companies didn’t give a shit about emissions because they built their plants in economically poor areas. They also couldn’t care less about the safety of the miners who extracted the coal, nor the ecosystems they destroyed pulling it out of the ground.
Turn off your network news channel and go read a book.

Idiotic? No, those guys are smart. They know who really pays their total comp.
![]() 01/09/2018 at 11:29 |

Plus, “tech” already makes coal not economically viable. It’s the fucking GOP that is trying to make coal come back. Those guys are suffering because solar and wind is kicking their fucking Appalachian asses to kingdom come.
![]() 01/09/2018 at 11:47 |

That was my point, coal is going away despite regulators trying to bring it back. If want to fix things it’s best to do it with economics, not regulations.
I don’t support coal was just using it to make a point.
